What do you have to do each day to care for a horse?
Mercury asked:
how many times do you feed, water, exercise, clean up…
how much money you need to have a horse?
What time do you have to wake up in the morning for a horse?
Horses are grazing animals and require a lot of work. Typically a horse should have access to fresh water all day long, and at a minimum they are fed twice daily…..at the same time every day. If you feed at 6 am you should feed again at 6 pm….every day. If your horse is kept in a average size stall you should clean it daily. And, a horse should be exercised 43 – 4 times weekely, especially if they are kept in a stall. Costs will very depending on how much hay the horse needs. A larger horse will eat morem and, so will a regularly exercised horse. You should visit a local stable and talk with folk there to get a good feel for costs, etc. to have a horse. They are not cheap and they require a lot of attention Good luck.
I’ve heard the price for a good horse starts at $1500. From there, the better the bloodline/breeding, the higher the price. However, I also heard the price for horses went down/ is going down.
You also have to consider the cost of food (hay and grain), vet bills/medicine, horse shoeing, and tack. Tack itself costs hundreds. Shoers charge by the hoof and the price varies for each one. The cheapest I’ve heard is $80 for all four feet. I’ve heard them get expensive, though.
this is my morning routine..
in the summer – they feed themselves.. so I just need to check they have water..
I feed them in the stall twice a day.Ride as much as I can and pick stalls once a day everyday. They have automatic waterer’s in their stalls and a trough in the pasture. We buy about $50.00 worth of feed a week. And if I had to buy hay that’s about $5.00 a bale here. Not to mention shots and sometimes a vet bill.I feed in the morning between 7 and 9 and around 5 or 6 in the evenings.Oh and if you board a horse at a public barn that can run you anywhere from $70.00 on up.
