Two months ago I bought a young horse, and when I canter him he gets a little excited and bucks. Im trying to break his habit. I had a friend tell me there is a cinch or some kind of strap that goes around behind the horse, but she couldn’t remember what it was called.

How do you que to canter your horse on the right lead. How do you que to canter your horse on the left lead.

I don’t own a horse for starters and I began riding at Faughanvale last year. I was really happy to ride horses when I started but now I am even scared if the horse moves out from the wall by a noise in a private lesson. I’m going to give up now if I can’t do anything about it because I can’t even canter and only trot jumps that are 2ft. I have been riding for a year now but only get lessons every 1mth – 2mths.

I know with my lesson horse one had to gentlly raise the right heel and let the horse know which foot to start off on. I had tried and tried to get my horse to Canter and he will not step up the pace!?! Is it me, what am I doing wrong or need to be doing?

My horse is a 12 year old arab cross. He trots and walks on the lunge beautifully but it takes alot for him to get him to canter. He doesn’t respond to the lunge whip very well, just seems to ignore it. Any ideas?

My 24yr old "colt" always wants to be infront when we go on group trail rides and so I have to ride at least 30 feet in front of my friends when we go trail riding, and if we are trying to walk side by side or him behind the lead horse then he goes beserk and won’t go forward, his only gear turns into reverse and pivots-right in the middle of a narrow trail that has surrounded with stickerbushes and dry sharp branches that can get me and him seriously injuried. And when he does decide to go forward its at a full blast canter. How should I handle him and do excercises to make him be more relaxed with another horse on the trail?
PS. He is great alone on the trail, and is fine with other horses in the arena @ shows but its just the group trai rides that trouble him, we have cut down half his diet so he is not so hyper so that will help him be calmer.

Everytime i ride my horse, i go to canter and she will canter for a second but then she will go into a trot, without me wanting her to??

Also how can i teach my horse not to be afraid of walking through water?

My horse is 6 and he is comfortable to canter on a circle on the right reign but when we change reign and canter on a left circle he cant seem to do it. He always breaks out of it and it doesn’t feel right. What can i do to fix this?
