There is an old Cliché that goes: Show me your horse, and I’ll tell you what type of person you are… However should your horse be skinny that would reflect very badly on you.

We took a look at the feeding horses, the psychology behind feeding and the psychosocial effects that feed has on a horse, as well as how the digestive system works. Then threw it all in a mixer to come up with the ultimate guide to feeding or feeding up your horse.

But first some background

Many people consider, or think, that a skinny horse is the result of negligence. This is not always so. Bad horse or stable management more often than not is the root cause. Why do we talk about a skinny horse? Because most people only realize the importance of feeding once their horse starts loosing weight.A skinny horse, or a horse that is loosing weight is warning you that something is not right, that somewhere something has gone wrong and continues to go wrong. There are many reasons why a perfectly healthy horse could go skinny in a matter of a few weeks.

These reasons include

Insufficient nutrition

Medical or physiological conditions

Stress or psychological reasons.

Before attempting to feed up ones horse, you would need to know the reason behind its loss of condition.

Insufficient nutrition includes,

Not enough food,

The wrong food,

The wrong type of food.

No set feeding times or routine.

Medical or physiological It is a proven fact that nothing throws weight off a horse faster than pain, a horse suffering from a painful condition will appear to loose weight overnight, this because pain is either caused by an infection (the horse will have a temperature) which the body is fighting off using all resources available to it or the pain is of such a nature that the horse does not or cannot consume enough food or alternatively digest the food properly. Theses are often confirmed by a vet or dentist and corrected

Not sure what’s happening with me on this one, but it seems like the more I listen to it, the better After Hours gets. After Hours put simply is one of Scott Hamilton’s best CDs to date.

I wish it weren’t the case but, it’s not everyday that I get a CD from an artist that I can just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. There is usually a song or two that I just can’t force myself to get through. Not at all the case with After Hours. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.

After Hours is a pleasantly varied, mix of 10 tracks that are very well written songs by this clearly gifted artist. With many of the songs displaying a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Clearly drawing from what I can only imagine are him own personal experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions like love, heartbreak, pain, failed relationships and unattainable romance. They’re all here.

Team roping has been a successful event with the Americans. It is a battle of the best cowboys and girls who have the skills of team roping.

Team roping is a popular rodeo event mostly played by cowboys and cowgirls. This is the only rodeo event which allows men and women to compete equally even with mixed gender team members. It is also called as heading and heeling. Basically, a team is composed of two players-the header and the heeler. The header is the one who ropes the steer either on the neck or horns while the heeler is the one to rope the steer behind the legs.

This rodeo event was a technique developed by cowboys working in ranches. They used the technique in order to capture full grown animals such as cows. During the earlier years, it was just a chore. However, because of enormous interests of people, it became a popular event wherein cowboys and cowgirls compete with each other. Rodeo events usually receive large numbers of spectators.

Basically, steers are lined up inside a chute with spring doors. Each side of the chute comes with an area called box and the header is positioned in one side. A taut rope is used by the header which is called the barrier. Once the header is ready, the spring doors of the chute will be released by an assistant who allows the steer to go running.

Once the steer reaches the end of the rope, the barrier will be released and the header must rope the steer with either of the legal catches namely:

Performance horses are highly trained animals that enthusiastically pursue their routine and commands. Performance horses are well-bred with extensively documented blood lines. Although performance horses are a valuable addition to any stable, they can require a lot of care. In addition to the health regiment advised by your horse’s veterinarian, consider adding a horse recovery supplement to your animal’s daily diet. Even though horse recovery supplements can help prevent many performance horse issues, being fully educated about the types of medical problems that could potentially affect your horse will help you select the right horse recovery supplements.

Joint and Muscle Deterioration

Deterioration is a common problem for horses in general, and even more so with performance breeds. By the time a performance horse is 15 they can start exhibiting signs of joint deterioration as well as cartilage erosion. Inflammation, characterized by swelling joints that are warm to the touch, is another problem that is less serious than osteoarthritis, but it should not go untreated . These problems can lead to lameness, and horse recovery supplements can help to slow or prevent the onset of these medical issues.

Horse racing facts are popular today through most of the Western world as well as in other areas. They were probably contested as early as 1500 in Egypt. The roots of harness racing extend back to at least as far as early Greece, where chariot races were a part of the Olympic games. In Roman times, the chariot race became an entertaining show for the masses. The constant, widespread desire for faster and stronger horses for work, military use, and sport led to the development of several special breeds for these purposes.

Steeplechase, which is horse racing over a course with hurdles and shallow water jumps through a country like setting, became popular in England and Ireland in the 19th century. The Grand National Steeplechase, held annually since 1839 at the Aintree course, in Liverpool, England, is the most famous race.

Harness racing, began in the 1830s from the custom of informal carriage races. This became very popular in the 1870s. Harness racing features two differently gaited standardbred horses. Pacers (laterally gaited), which move with a swaying motion, bringing the right front and right hind legs forward at the same time, and trotters (diagonally gaited), which move with a high-stepping, straight ahead gait with left front and right hind legs moving forward in unison. More Horse Racing Facts include, harness racing, formerly a favorite event mainly at U.S. country fairs, became extremely popular after WW II at horse racing facilities near urban areas. The United States Trotting Association, formed in 1938, governs the sport. Other Horse Racing Facts include notable harness races include the Hambletonian, the Kentucky Futurity, and the Little Brown Jug.

From the moment that the first horse leaves the gate, until the very last one has crossed the finish line, a thoroughbred race is fun and exciting. Equally as exciting, is being able to wager on a winning horse. It is the stuff that dreams are truly made of.

Some people bet on hunches or just use pure luck. Perhaps a horse’s name is that of your great-uncle or sparks a childhood memory; those are the horses you have to bet on, no matter what the odds.

There are factors, however, that can and will determine the winner of a horse race. The horse’s overall health, its recent standings or turf condition at the track can all play a role in whether or not a horse will win. Serious handicappers may put big money on simple bets based on these factors, but most veterans will opt for intermediate or advanced betting, using exactas, quinellas and superfectas. The following, is a guide to the different types of bets offered at a horse race. Once you learn how some of the following bets work, who knows? You could be wagering along side the very best and it may just pay off.

Simple Bets

Win — This is the easiest and most common bet to make. When you put money on a horse to win, the horse must come in first in order for you to collect a prize. The money you collect will be based on the odds issued for your horse at post time.

Sample bet: Once the race has ended, the track’s tote board will display the value of winning tickets relative to a $2 wager. For example the board may look like this:

Horse Win Place Show
1st 7 9.00 5.00 3.60
2nd 2 4.00 3.00
3rd 4 3.40

If you put $1 to win on a horse #7, you would collect $4.50.

Place – Another easy, common bet, putting money on a horse to place will result in a win if your horse comes in either first or second. Remember if your horse comes in first, you will only collect on the place payout.

Sample bet: Once the race has ended, the track’s tote board will display the value of winning tickets relative to a $2 wager. For example the board may look like this:

Horse Win Place Show
1st 7 9.00 5.00 3.60
2nd 2 4.00 3.00
3rd 4 3.40

If you put $2 to place on a horse #7, you would collect $5.00. If you put $1 to place on a horse #2, you would collect $2.00.

Show – Like win and place bets, show is an easy and safe bet, but often yields a low payout. Putting money on a horse to show will result in a winning ticket if your horse comes in either first, second or third. Again, if your horse comes in first or second, you will only collect on the show payout.

Sample bet: Once the race has ended, the track’s tote board will display the value of winning tickets relative to a $2 wager. For example the board may look like this:

Horse Win Place Show
1st 7 9.00 5.00 3.60
2nd 2 4.00 3.00
3rd 4 3.40

If you put $1 to show on a horse #2, you would collect $1.50. If you put $2 to show on a horse #4, you would collect $3.40.

Combination (win, place and/or show): It is always fun to play a combination of win, place and show bets. While these bets will yield a higher payout, they will often cost more money.

Sample bet: Once the race has ended, the track’s tote board will display the value of winning tickets relative to a $2 wager. For example the board may look like this:

            google_ad_channel = “7940249670, ” + AB_cat_channel + AB_unit_channel;
google_language = “en”;
google_ad_region = ‘test’;

Cheltenham Racecourse is located near Cheltenham town centre, Gloucestershire, in the suburban village of Prestbury. Cheltenham is called the “home of National Hunt racing”, largely because it hosts the prestigious four-day Cheltenham Festival Gold Cup, held every March and features some impressive Cheltenham Festival horseracing events throughout the year.

Unique Features

Cheltenham Racecourse has a scenic location, situated in a natural amphitheatre just below the Cotswolds, at Cleeve Hill. This racecourse in Cheltenham can accommodate up to 67,500 spectators. The racecourse also has its own railway station, which is the southern terminus of the preserved Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway. The railway offers a 20-mile round trip between Toddington and Cheltenham Racecourse through some of the most spectacular scenery in the Cotswolds.

The unique features of Cheltenham Racecourse include two separate courses alongside each other, the Old Course and the New Course. The New Course has a tricky downhill fence and a longer run-in for steeplechases than the Old Course. Hurdle races over two miles on the New Course also differ in that most of the hurdles are jumped early on in the race with only two hurdles being jumped in the last seven furlongs. There is also a cross-country course which is laid out inside the main racecourse and is used for cross-country steeplechases.
